Ragnar & Princess Rena in hiding... Category: Uncategorized
With the Unworthy son of Odin and The Maker on the loose both Baldur and Helen have asked Ragnar to take Princess Rena into hiding for awhile hoping things would cool down....
Rena slid her arm through Junes, looking over at the older woman confused for a moment by her words. There wa a slight flutter of excitement in her chest all while she felt this weight of uncertainty. "I dont know that your right about that, if thats him being fond of someone id hate to see how he treats someone he hates." And she was certain he resented her so she didnt want to press the topic. She sat down and started to pull pins form her hair as June started water for her, watching the woman as she asked, "Does he ever smile? Or is it just being around me that makes him so surly."
Ragnar stepped back when Rena agreed to June helping her. "I have her." June spoke with a smile towards Ragnar and he nodded his head leaving the room quickly. June held out her arm for Rena to take and she lead her up the steps. "Master Ragnar seems very taken with you." she spoke with a adoring smile. "He usually doesn't speak at all." she lead her into the room and she let go og her arm and moved to the bathroom filling the large tub. "And if I may be so bold to say Princess the way he looks at you when you are not looking." she smiled coming out of the bathroom looking at her.
Rena was frowning watching Ragnar come over to help her up. He was always so short and her normally tender feelings were even closer to the surface after the day she had had. So when June came out offering help she didnt care what it was for she jumped at it. "Yes, please, that would be so lovely," she said quickly, her smile a little to vulnerable for her liking. She hated solitude over all and with only crass Ragnar for company she was so ready to have someone kind to talk to.
Ragnar was watching the fire dance on the logs when he heard her spoke. "I should of thought that was a given." he spoke and his eyes shifted towards her and he shrugged. "The land is muddy so it won't do much good out there anyways. Last time you ruined your dressed in mud." he pointed out and he moved to stand. "Come I will walk you to your room." he spoke and he helped her from her chair and June was there. "I have already hung up your pretty dreses Rena do you need help bathing?" she asked and Ragnar looked elsewhere.
Rena smiled at the woman glad she was here and so sweet."Thank you," she told her watching her leave wistfully. This would be one person for her to talk to while Ragnar was being brutish and rude. Maybe she wouldn't mind Rena hanging around in the kitchen with her. She had always liked staying with her father when he cooked and a kind person would be welcome. She sampled the cake and it was so good she had little issue finishing it. A thought had occurred to her and she asked knowing the answer, "We arent allowed to leave the house are we?"
"Yeah well we will start with wooden swords." he spoke slightly amused as he drank more water to hide his smile and the rest of the dinner was quiet as they ate. June came in to bring dessert to Rena because she knew Ragnar didn't like many sweets. "If I had known you where coming I would of picked up stuff for you Ragnar." she spoke to him clearling plates. "It's okay even when you go all the way into town you must not let anyone know we are here." June nodded her head quickly not understanding why. "It's from the King." he spoke and she nodded looking at Rena. "I hope you like lemon cakes." she encouraged her to try her Deseret when she left the room.
"He didn't express some concern id take a limb off.... mine or yours?" she asked feeling a little panicked at the idea. She didn't think she would fail, when she tried at things she wasn't horrible but this was well out of her comfort zone and she was sure she would be crap at it. Still she nodded and conceded with a less then enthused, "Ok."
Ragnar frowned at her reaction although it wasn't that shocking to be honest she didn't like dirt or lifting much besides fabrics of so he always seen her do so. "He did." he simply stated going back to eat before he looked back up at her. "Simple stuff. Nothing to hard." he spoke again and moved to sip from his glass.
Rena had just taken a bite of food and sputtered around it, hand over her mouth as she coughed afraid she would choke, that's how shocked she was at what he said. She drank deeply from her cup, eyes watering slightly before she asked him, "Are you serious? He really suggested that?" She was half horrified and half amazed her father would even think her the least bit capable of that, though if Helen knew she knew her mother would flip.
Ragnar nodded his head. "I can find some ear plugs?" he offered and he picked up his fork and he stopped going to eat and he set his fork down. "So your father suggested I teach you some of the basics of fighting. He didn't want your mother to know and he knows your not into that so he said to try." his eyes looked up at her.
Rena was a little taken aback by his question but she nodded quickly before she spoke. "Yes, its nice, i dont know that it'll be so easy sleeping with the thunder," she admitted with a frown before adding, "but that's not the rooms fault." She sipped her own water then, watching him across the table, he didnt look anymore more excited then she imagined she did and still it bugged her. This was his home, atleast he was comfortable with the scenery change.
Ragnar nodded at her words and he moved to pick up his water as thunder boomed over head and he licked his lips. His eyes moved to Rena and she just looked unhappy as he felt about this whole thing. Yes it was his job to protect her but he also didn't understand how she needed her way all the time. Life didn't work like that for everyone. "So do you think you will be comfortable in the room?"
Rena nodded her head at his words, it was probably the longest he had spoke to her without rolling his eyes in, well forever. He helped her along to dinner and she didnt ask anymore questions though she had many and he was the only person for her to talk to here. She wondered wistfully where the old woman had gone as he helped her to sit. "Thank you," she said watching him walk around to his own seat.
Ragnar looked at her when she came out she was of course in a dress that pretty much cost just as much as this house and most of the furniture in here. "I think a month after my mother died. We moved to Asgard and Amma helped raise us while my father was doing things for Odin. When I was of age I joined the Asgardian army as well." he shrugged his shoulders before leading the way down the steps avoiding the paintings and he walked towards the dinning room with the large fireplace going. The table was set for two and he moved her chair out for her helping her sit and he moved to sit down across from her.
When she heard Rganar call her she signed and walked out of the room, shutting the door behind her. It was a little damp in the air but they had mentioned constant rain here so that inspired the shawl she wrapped around her shoulders. Her arms stayed crossed over her chest holding it around her as she watched Ragnar. She looked up at the picture he was staring at before asking him, "Whens the last time you were here?"
