Jason laughed when he heard Alexis. "I never said the Quartermaines were normal. I never will. Because they have never been normal. Why do you think they have pizza every year for Thanksgiving?" He chuckled. "I've been remembering little bits and pieces of my life as Jason Quartermaine and from what I can remember, normal was never a word to describe them."
Jason went over to Paul and shook his hand. "If you do, you're gonna have to deal with me and I don't think you want that." He smiled then patted his shoulder. He hugged Monica then left with Alexis. "Thank God that is over with." He said as he got into the car.
"Yes, let's go home, husband. And, this year, I have made sure that nothing is going to wrong. I have ordered our dinner from The Metro Court. Our family and friends will be arriving at 5 p.m. Which will give you and I, some seriously making up time." She softly kissed his lips.
Paul smiled when he heard Jason. He shook his hand. "Thank you very much, Jason. You have nothing to worry about in regards to me. I promise." He watched as he left and looked at Monica. "I was not expecting that." He was brought into his jail cell for the night where he fell asleep.
The next morning, Paul put his suit on prepared for the arraignement. He was happy to have Monica by his side through everything. He was brought into the courtroom where he pleaded justifiable homicide and breathed a sigh of relief when he was being released. After Dylan took the handcuffs off, he hugged Monica tightly then hugged Alexis. "Thank you for representing me, Alexis." He looked at Dylan. "Dylan, thank you. There are no hard feelings from me. You had to do your job. Which you did quite well." He looked at Monica. "How about we all go home and celebrate. After all, it is Thanksgiving."
Jason smiled at Monica. "I'm glad that things worked out, Mom." He looked at Paul. "You're very lucky to have her. Welcome to the family." He shook his hand. Then turned to Monica. "If you need anything, don't hesitate to call." He smiled and hugged her. "Good night."
Jason looked at Dylan. "No one can fault you for doing your job. Monica was only hard on you because it was Paul. She'll come around." He smiled at him then looked at Alexis. "Yeah, I'll go and check on Monica, then you and I will get the kids and go home." He smiled then went into the interrogation room where he saw Monica with Paul. "Hey, I'm sorry for interrupting. Dylan told Alexis and I everything. I just wanted to see how you were doing."
Alexis looked at Dylan and sighed. "Well, I guess she told us off. Thanks, Dylan. Looks like you just redeemed yourself to Monica." She turned to Jason. "We should go home, and get the kids. Do you want to check on Monica, before we go, Jason." She smiled softly at him.
Dylan looked at Monica and nodded his head. "Justifiable Homicide works even better." He watched them. "I will leave the two of you alone. This will all be over tomorrow." He left the interrogation room and closed the door. He saw Alexis and Jason. "Hey, Monica is in there now with Paul. She's gonna stay here with him tonight. He's gonna plead justifiable homicide tomorrow so that it won't go to trial. I suggested he plead not guilty due to insanity but Monica didn't want that and she suggested justifiable homicide which works even better."
Monica felt his hug, and hugged him back tightly. "No, no, no, Dylan. I don't accept any of this. Paul is going to plead justifiable homicide. Nothing else will do, do you hear me. I'm not leaving you alone tonight. I want to stay here with, you. I'm not leaving you." She leaned against him.
Paul wrote down his confession from his first victim all the way to Sabrina. He was grateful for Alexis being his lawyer but he wanted to do things by the book. When he finished writing his confession down, he handed it back to Dylan. "I think you're right, Dylan. Now, I know you don't want to do this next part but you have to. It's your job to arrest me then tomorrow, I'll be out on bail." He looked at everybody. "Can I just have a word with my wife? Thank you." He went over to Monica. "I know you're not happy with this. Don't be mad at Dylan. He's just doing his job. He's been on this case since the very first killing. He's been working so hard on getting it solved. It was killing me to lie to you especially knowing what I did to you." He held her hand in his. "I love you so much, Monica. That's why I confessed. I'm just doing things by the book. I'll be in a jail cell for the night then tomorrow, I'll be out on bail and I'll be home with you. We can have our first Thanksgiving together." He gave her a soft smile as he kissed her then hugged her.
Dylan handed Paul the notepad and pen. He looked at Alexis, Jason and Monica. "You don't have to worry about a trial because I think Paul's best bet is to plead not guilty for reason of insanity. From everything that you told us, it is clear you weren't in your right mind. Especially towards the end."
Paul watched as Alexis came in with Jason and Monica. "No, I didn't sign anything yet. Alexis, I appreciate you being my lawyer but it's okay. It's a written confession of what I did. That's it. We do this all the time with perps." He looked at Dylan. "Give me the notepad and pen."
