Kayako Saeki vs. Reika Kuze Part Two: Eternally Cursed
Category: Blogging

(I changed things up some so don't expect Kayako and Reika to behave exactly like most people are used to seeing from them, but for the most part I stayed true to their characters and had a lot of fun writing this sequel! Who knows, maybe the dreaded Tattooed Priestess and the much feared Ju-on fulfiller of curses might just be meeting one another yet again before all is said and done.)

Kayako Saeki

Reika Kuze

After finally making a full recovery from their first brutal encounter, which took place inside Kayako's very own cursed residence, the tortured soul of the Ju-on entity slowly entered inside the Manor of Sleep, ever so cautiously searching for Reika while fighting feelings of despair and even fright as well, for she could well remember how the other powerful spirit had more than held her own within the confines of Saeki House, which was supposedly where Kayako's powers were at their highest and most dangerous as well. She soon passed by several other ghosts but none would dare confront her because they feared this wretched woman above all others around them, except for one Reika Kuze who was by far the most deadly yurei inside this dreadful Manor. She could definitely sense the Tattooed Priestess moving closer right now, but the memory of very nearly being destroyed during their first conflict caused Kayako to panic like never before, as she suddenly lunged forward while using both hands to grab Reika around the throat, yet despite utilizing all her strength in a futile attempt to break the other female's neck, in an instant Reika casually threw her aside without even using much effort whatsoever, and there could not be the least bit of doubt as to who had the advantage at this very moment in time. In the Manor of Sleep Reika Kuze was much stronger than Kayako Saeki, yet the now weaker opponent wasn't about to go down without a valiant effort on her part to at least cause this vile woman some serious pain along the way.

Kayako stood back up once more after her entire body landed with a rather sickening thud against the wall, which was part of a much larger room that had been used to perform ritualistic sacrifices in order to appease the spirits, although any humans who had once been involved with such ceremonies were now long dead, murdered in cold blood by those very same entities which they tried in vain to appease by offering up one of their own as a sacrificial victim. Kayako felt cornered like some wild animal but at least she would always be the faster and more agile of the two malevolent ghosts, so her only option was to take advantage of those attributes right then and there, by using that rather infamous long hair of hers to throw Reika off balance as she moved to one side of the room, and in a matter of seconds Reika felt the air leaving her body as Kayako's hair strangled the tattooed woman almost to the point of unconsciousness. However, in an impressive display of sheer power and ferocity, Reika wasted no time in somehow freeing both hands long enough to literally rip the hair off Kayako's head, yanking it so fast that her sworn enemy barely fell forward before screams of sheer agony echoed throughout the entire Manor, as most of Kayako's hair was removed almost instantly, as blood poured forth from many wounds which dropped the formidable yurei to her hands and knees, leaving the door wide open for Reika to at last do what had been done to her many years ago.

However, it was not simply blind vengeance which drove the tattooed woman of chaos and suffering to do something this permanent and terrible just then, for she wanted to humiliate and make Kayako suffer in the worst possible way right now, yet suddenly Reika remembered her tragic past once more as she slowly moved closer, until finally she stood right over the fallen Ju-on terror. Reika had been known previously as an unfortunate woman destined to be sacrificed after her body became covered with snake and holly tattoos, which were applied to assume the bad memories and pain from people who come to see her. After her body became entirely covered, she was taken to a cave under the Manor where she was impaled by the Stake of Tattoos, which binds her in a dream-like state for eternity. However, Reika, the last priestess, fell in love with Kaname, a traveler who visited her village. Kaname, after finding that Reika had been taken to be bound in the cave, entered the cave to see her one last time and woke Reika from her sleep. Yashu Kuze, the family mistress, discovering Kaname in the cave, struck the back of his head, killing him instantly. He fell next to Reika, his eyes open, staring and unseeing into hers. Heartbroken, Reika allowed her tattoos to enter her eyes, turning them jet black and releasing the pain pent up inside her body and the rest of the cave. The vengeful spirit slaughtered the entire household as she took her anger out upon those foolish enough to cross her path.

Now this tortured soul wanted Kayako to experience the exact same thing as well, so she wasted very little time in bringing the steel mallet up and over her head, before sending in down against Kayako's skull and other parts of the much abused yurei's body, easily breaking bones as the brutal punishment continued dozens of times without ceasing. Reika was truly enjoying this while her opponent gagged on blood and could do almost nothing whatsoever to fight back at the moment. Finally she stopped but only after inflicting enough pain to render the other female unconscious, as Kayako's white dress was now completely soaked with blood. Smiling insanely yet at the same time strangely calm as if in some sort of trance, Reika rolled Kayako over and proceeded to use that very same steel mallet to drive the first metal spike through her right hand, then left while savoring the triumphant taste of almost certain victory right now. She drove a third spike through Kayako's right foot and was on the verge of doing the same to her left one, thus binding the fallen ghost in a dream-like state forever, when suddenly and with every last bit of her remaining strength, Kayako grabbed the fourth spike and drove it straight through Reika's neck, before ripping it out and doing the same thing to the evil priestess' skull as she coughed up blood while refusing to be defeated that easily. Reika's shocked expression betrayed just how badly she'd underestimated Kayako's utterly determined resilience, but as she fell on top of Kayako after passing out from the pain, the weakened Grudge entity found it very nearly impossible to do much of anything else right now, so for several minutes she simply lay there without having any idea regarding what might happen next.

The Camera Obscura was the only way to actually defeat Reika once and for all, but Kayako had been so focused on combating her morbid foe that she'd not given that particular weapon the slightest bit of thought, yet surely there must be at least one of those devices inside the Manor of Sleep, perhaps dropped in sheer panic after its human owner fled from the presence of some malicious spirit, or maybe it was lying around somewhere and had never even been used before. Whatever the case may be, despite being a ghost herself this was Kayako's only hope of continued survival in the afterlife, so she summoned forth as much strength as possible before finally, yet also very painfully freeing herself from those other spikes, while at the same time rolling Reika's now limp body off hers as well. Kayako though, was far too weak to use the mallet and spikes to pin Reika in any sort of effective way, and besides, Reika had already proven before that she was more than capable of breaking free from that supposedly permanent trance-like state, thus leaving Kayako with no alternative but to slowly crawl away from the other female right then and there. Each time she moved it caused her even more pain than before, yet somehow she continued on with the task at hand, but after several more feet everything went black as Kayako passed out from her many severe injuries. Thankfully Reika was also in equally bad shape because several hours passed before Kayako came to again, yet Reika remained motionless and did not appear to even still be existing in the afterlife right now, yet the Ju-on ghost knew otherwise as she started slowly crawling through the Manor of Sleep for the second time, searching for the one weapon she knew would finally bring this all to an end.

The Camera Obscura was located inside the Kimono Room, and would have been sitting in plain view on top of an old dresser, were it not for a white kimono covering it up and thus hiding it from none other than Reika Kuze herself, who would have destroyed the powerful device had she actually been inside this rarely visited area more often. Fortunately luck was on Kayako's side as she continued crawling for hours on end, before finally standing back again up after hearing the unmistakable sound of Reika screaming in agony from being wounded earlier, which resulted in giving the more seriously injured ghost enough of an adrenalin rush to literally run into that old dresser as she panicked like never before. Kayako was truly scared now as she fumbled around with the Camera Obscura, not finding any film for it though, at least not until she looked around some more and discovered an unused roll hidden underneath another kimono which lay on top of the bed. Pure instinct took over because Kayako had no idea what happened next, nor did she have the slightest clue about how the device actually worked, yet somehow the panic striken ghost was able to snap several pictures of Reika in quick succession, each one causing more damage to the heavily tattooed female along the way, but she very nearly prevented Kayako from using it in the first place, and was almost on top of the other female before Kayako managed to properly use the much dreaded Camera Obscura. An incredibly effective Fatal Frame combo was achieved as Kayako used a special shutter chance shot to finally exorcise Reika Kuze for good, chaining the shots in order to at last defeat her most hated and dangerous opponent, although no doubt this great success was in fact due to the powerful Type-Zero Film contained within the highly destructive Camera Obscura.

Kayako immediately collapsed to the floor and was far too exhausted to celebrate her monumental victory, but the sight of Reika vanishing into thin air right in front of her very eyes provided all the excitement necessary for the time being, because not until a full 24 hours had passed did she finally awaken from losing consciousness once more. Kayako slowly stood back up again then at last screamed triumphantly as she fought through the excruciating pain long enough to celebrate, but after this was done the battered and broken spirit passed out yet again, only waking up once back inside the relatively safe confines of Saeki House. However, her body had been brutalized almost beyond imagination and it would take many weeks, and indeed even several months before she sufficiently recovered enough to even so much as crawl around inside the attic without feeling very little if any pain. Yet deep down inside could she really and truly be sure that Reika's supposedly permanent demise would actually last forever? Lingering questions still remained and she could never be absolutely certain regarding whether or not the Tattooed Priestess had in fact been destroyed once and for all, but nevertheless Kayako had certainly earned the right to enjoy this hard fought victory and for the time being anyway, she could finally have some much needed peace in this otherwise dreary existence called the afterlife.
