Morning/ evening before the Water Celebrations (Excerpts from book 2) Category: Uncategorized
During their time in the realm, most of the royals would go to their Kingdom in the morning, and return in the evening for the ball. Historically that was how things had always been run. This was the first celebration where two Rulers were married. The Fyre King and His wife had come to an arrangement where they would meet in one of the Kingdoms each morning with their children. The First morning was chosen for the Fyre Kingdom since it was closer to the Water Kingdom than the Earth Kingdom was. Aidan had taken care to set up breakfast arrangements, since he knew that the King would not have remembered. He and Melodie were the first to arrive. The dining area of the dark half of the Fyre Kingdom was underground, like the rest of the castle in the dark half had been built. The stones that made up the walls, and ceiling gave a soft green glow that broke up the darkness just enough to see. The stones were similar to Olivine in the human world, but subtly different in nature. An evolution in the realm had given them a glow, enhanced by the magma that lay on the other side of the walls, waiting to fill the volcanoes littering the dark half of the Kingdom.
The table itself was made of granite with candles lining every few feet so he darkness was completely broken at the table, and those eating would be able to see the food before them. The food was just being brought out when they arrived, and Aidan sat down beside his wife. It wasn’t long before Del and Cherie arrived. Cherie’s eyes widened at the sight of all the food, and she rushed over to inspect the plates of sweets, and various juices. Del had eaten enough of the Fyre kingdom food to know what he liked, and began dishing his plate before even greeting Aidan. It wasn’t until his mouth was stuffed with a special breakfast cake that he sat down, and gave a nod in aidan’s direction.
“Any sign of your father yet?” Aidan asked, beginning to dish his own plate. Melodie had already begun eating her food, opting for the choices more on the junk food side. It seemed that he would be the only one eating somewhat decent this morning. “Not yet.” Del spoke between swallowing his mouth full of food, and taking in the next. It was a wonder the boy never choked. “They were up pretty late, I am sure that he and the queen are just in their room still.” Melodie said, picking up a piece of the breakfast cake, and eating it as she glanced at her husband. “More than likely.” Aidan said, an annoyed tone to his voice. “Excuse me.” He said, standing up, and grabbing one of the pitchers from the table. It held a mix of Light and fyre juice, the liquid glowing like magma, but would be as sweet as candy with the perfect hint of spice. The hint of spice was what he wanted.
Leaving the dining area, He made his way towards the Water Kingdom, appearing in the chambers that the King and Queen were staying in. They were still in bed as suspected. Letting out a groan, He pulled back the covers, and dumped the cold, but spicy liquid over the naked forms of the two. “Good morning!” He exclaimed as the two jolted awake, gasping in shock. “We’re missing you at breakfast. Come join us. It’s in the Dark half of the Fyre Kingdom. The Dining hall if you remember where that is.” He said, disappearing before the two could retaliate.

The shock of the cold was what woke him, the sting of the juice as it hit certain areas was what made sure he stayed awake. He didn’t have to see Aidan to know that it had been him. He responded to the words with several swear words and curses in mixed languages. He lunged towards the sound of his voice, only to end up face first on the floor. More curses mixed in the air as He stood up, and tried to wipe off the juice that had run along his body. He turned to look at his wife. She had sat up, using the blanket to wipe the juice off of her body, mumbling her own curses in languages he didn’t even know. “I’ll draw a bath for us.” He said, finally calming down as he looked her over. Something about her always calmed him no matter what.
He made his way into the bathroom, pulling the plug to fill the bath. Turning to look over his shoulder, he saw his wife’s naked, and glistening form glowing against the light from the algae that lit the room. “Still upset about what’s happening tonight?” She asked. A smile formed on her lips as she looked him over as well. “You know. I might need a little more convincing that everything will be alright.” He responded with a smirk, reaching out, and taking her hand. He pulled her to him, kissing her firmly. She smiled, and let out a soft giggle as she fell into his lap, his arms wrapping around her waist. “I think I can help with that.” She whispered against his lips.

For once they were the first to arrive where they were all supposed to meet up. The Fyre King waited with his wife as Aidan and Melodie arrived. “You definitely are anxious for tonight aren’t you?” Aidan teased the King. “It’s an important night.” He responded, looking to Aidan, and Melodie. His hand rested on his wife’s hip, tightening as he looked up to see del and cherie approaching. “What… are they wearing?” He asked in a low voice “I don’t… know.” Aidan responded slowly as if he were trying to figure it out for himself. “Dogfish!” Diana chimed in, appearing out of nowhere. “We really need to put a bell on you.” The King looked to Diana. “Did you have something to do with this?” Aidan asked, narrowing his eyes at her. “It was my idea!” She said proudly, standing up taller. “I told her she needed to go as a dogfish since I’m going as a catfish.” She pointed to her mask for emphasis, a grey catfish mask with whiskers. Her dress was a simple grey evening gown. “You should have dressed like a puffer fish!” Melodie snapped, Aidan quickly shaking his head at her. “Not tonight you guys.” He whispered, shaking his head in annoyance.
Del and Cherie approached them finally, the look on Del’s face clearly showed that he was not happy about the clothes that had been chosen for him. “You guys look great!” Diana cooed as they approached. “You’re not wearing that.” The King said plainly, and seriously. “They’re fine Ba’al” His wife said, a hint of amusement in her voice. “Besides. It would take way more time to turn around and change now. May as well just let them go in there as they are.” He turned to whisper to his wife in french, so they could speak without the others fully understanding. He was clearly not happy with the little joke that had been made at the expense of their son and his wife. In the end though, she won the argument, as always, and he dropped it.
The rest of the time gathering together was quiet, and they made their way to meet up with the rest of the Royals. He caught a glimpse of Ronan, and Raina waiting together. Towards the front of the line. He was still unsure of how to feel about things. He couldn’t look away from the couple. He didn’t even notice that Lia, and Colman were nowhere to be found. They weren’t a concern to him though, He knew that the two were planning on announcing things tonight as well. It was bound to be an interesting night. He held on to his wife tighter, focusing on her, and not growing nervous for he night ahead.
The Announcing of the Royals went smoothly, everyone entering perfectly, and peacefully. Everyone had been seated except for the Water Queen, and the Sky King. Those two Royals were the final two announced. Muttering could be heard all through the ballroom as most of the realm was in shock at something so inconceivable to most, but at this point, perfectly normal to him and his wife. His attention remained on their daughter, watching her as everyone settled into place, and Ronan stood for the proposal. His heart was pounding so hard that it was deafening. He couldn’t even hear the words spoken by Ronan. He just watched in Horror as His daughter slowly slipped out of His grasp as a father. It’d all happened so quickly, and soon she would become the wife to a man he despised. His wife’s hand on his knee was a small comfort, but it couldn’t stop that feeling of dread, and loss that could not be consoled. He closed his eyes, downing his glass in one gulp as he managed to hear the end of the toast. One glass was not enough. He needed a full bottle to get through the night. His Daughter was gone, His Son looked like a damn dogfish, but at least he still had his wife by his side. He clutched her close, not wanting to let go. “If the next child we have is a daughter, She is never allowed to date.” He whispered against her ear.
“If that’s the case, then Neither Can lael.” She whispered back in response. “Fair enough.” He whispered with a nod, and gave her a gentle kiss.
