Out into the Larger World

She had decided that she had kept to
herself long enough. There were interesting things out there to see, and
people, hopefully, she could meet. She moved past the boundaries of the
land that belonged to the Duchess, and away from the home that had been
hers for the last several years. She would return to it soon enough,
after she explored for awhile. The pack on her back contained some food,
some clothing, and a book or two. She had arranged for the care of the
animals she had taken in with the Duchess, and the woman had agreed,
provided Carolyn returned in a few days. She moved past the line of
trees and out into the larger world, thinking maybe she would head
towards the nearest town.
