The Feral Finds Anika (Present Day) Category: Blogging
Anika
had fought for so long and so hard to contain the feral side she had.
She had no help but so far, had gone months without incident. She was
starting to feel like maybe it was finally under control. The wolf slept
in her human form in bed peacefully until her dream turned dark and she
heard the rumbling voice that she hadn't heard since she was a child
lost in the woods with her friends before they were massacred by what
lived there. Her
brows furrowed and she whined as it grew louder, closer, causing her
hair to stand on her arms and the back of her neck. She tried to shake
away the feeling but suddenly she fell and snapped awake when she hit
the ground. Her fingers buried into dirt and her eyes focused in the
dark but she was already very much aware that she was no longer in the
safety of her bed or room in the Silvermoon camp. She
could make out the rotting trees around her and the smell of dirt mixed
with blood coated her sense of smell. She breathed a bit heavily as her
memories had come back and she knew exactly where she was standing but
how? She
stood slowly with dirt clinging to her hair and clothes and carefully
tried to survey where she was when she felt the bottom of her feet send
sharp stings of pain through her legs. She looked at them under the
faint moonlight that tried to pierce through the trees only to find they
seemed to have been torn open. She must have walked miles barefoot from
the order over glass and branches as leaves and dirt caked into the
cuts glued to them by her own blood. She
didn't know where she was but it was becoming more unsettling that she
may have walked here in her sleep. But why here? She had only touched on
the thought when something shifted in the shadows a few yards ahead of
her.

"You
thought you could hide forever?" The deep rumbling of the voice that
haunted her prodded as two orange eyes fell on her from the dark. She
knew those eyes. Ran from them when she was a child and was hell bent on
fleeing from them now. The massive black wolf with rotting flesh and
matted fur stepped into the little light the moon gave at least five
feet high. Anika
didn't care how little her chance was. The Alpha her pack had feared
and fed for years hunted her down, drew her away from safety and now
stood in front of her again. Her feet screamed as she twisted them into
the dirt and took off like a bolt of lightning through the black woods
it now called its domain. She
heard its growl, felt the ground vibrate under her as he bound towards
her. She was fast but wasn't fast enough. She felt his breath down her
back and she skidded to a stop only to dash to the right fast enough for
him to slide forward when she did, his full body slamming into the
ground as he got to his feet to continue hunting her down. Anika
was panicked, fear stricken, and couldn't think about anything but
escaping. She was a rat in a maze. His maze. And tricks like that would
only get her so far. She was about to pull another when a searing pain
shot through the back of her shoulder and she felt her back become
drenched in her blood. She cried out, whimpered, and fell cutting up her
arms and legs on fallen sticks and rocks. The same place her scars
where the first time he sliced her open with his claws. Anika
shifted to her dire wolf form, far larger than the others yet still
small in comparison to the Alpha and her white fur stained at the
shoulder stood on end as she snarled at him, baring her canines. His
laugh sent chills down her spine and she started to think maybe that
wasn't the best choice of action. But as she contemplated this she could
feel a burning sensation ripping through her wound. As it did her feral
side stirred violently as though awakened from its slumber. It
was only then Anika realized what he had done. The infection from his
claws she endured as a child now seeped into her again and made the
feral side stronger than it had been previously. She growled lowly but
he only laughed again. Anika fought harder than she ever had before to
contain herself, but her claws bared and dug into the earth and her
teeth grew sharper as the need for blood intensified until the pain from
her wound burning into her back caused her to black out. These
black outs always meant the worse for the wolf. She had no control. The
feral side would run rampant, finding humans to rip apart and devour,
villages to destroy. There was no telling how many it would find and how
many it would massacre. Now the feral side was completely unlocked
again as the Alpha turned his head towards the east. The feral side
enhanced her hearing and sensations and the only thing Anika could
determine as everything went black was the sound of villages nearby.
