Two: Trial of Serpents
Mature language and fictional violence is in this story post.
After spending time training with my father and siblings to prepare for my next trial, the next one takes me to one realm above Asgard itself. Muspelheim. It is inhabited by demons and a place of fire.

Heimdall escorted me to the Bifrost to be taken there. My Clannfear companion stuck by with me still. But before I got dropped off here, Heimdall told me someone lurks in this realm and is named Surtur. But before I could ask who he was, Heimdall was gone. I guess I'm on my own here.

"It's you and me, Clanny. Whatever we have to face.......we have to face it head on. You ready?"

I watched my Clannfear look at me, made a low growl then nuzzled against my shoulder. I smiled and gave him head scratches. He made a low purr like sound and started stomping his tail happily.

I spent a lot of time wandering the grounds. It was really hot. Like walking through Hell itself or a volcano. I drew my blade out as I spotted these creatures come forth. I had to fight my way through to get to my destination. It mostly reminds me of the Deadlands. The fortresses had a dark look to them.

I took out my crossbow and fired arrow bolts at these creatures as I ran across this place. I spotted a chasm as I reached a cliff. My Clannfear then yanked me back with his tail while screeching. Looking down I knew we had to find a way to get across. Can't fly yet since I'm gaining my powers still.

So I sat down and planned accordingly on what to do. I heard a rumble from the chasm and I peered over to see what it was. A huge creature jumped up almost trying to bite me as I moved back. Fuck. Now this is getting harder. Out of nowhere I heard a caw behind me and I turned to see what it was. It was a raven.

It placed a scroll at my feet and nudged it toward me to take. Picking it up, the bird then flew up to my shoulder to sit on. I undid the scroll and saw that my grandfather left hints. There was alternative ways to get across but one of them showed I have to use the beast that dwells in the chasm. Like jump on it's head.

I petted the raven and asked it to let Odin know I said thank you. It gave me a light peck on my cheek and flew off. I always loved ravens. Growing up, my grandmother Frigga would take me to feed them.

Focusing on the trial now. I placed the scroll into my pack as I looked over the chasm. The beast was restless as it paced back and forth. I whistled to get its attention and it roared up at me. I saw a pile of game nearby and Clanny went to pick it up and bring it to me to use. I shot lightning at the beast to provoke it and as it stood on its hind legs, its head reached the cliff edges.

I throw the meat at the creature and it tried to jump for it, it was distracted so we made a run for it across by leaping on its head and leaping across before it dropped back down. I looked down the desert to see my destination is close. I ran across through the sandstorms and blistering heat. But I heard a voice that came from the ground under my feet.

"Fool!!! You think you can get away that easily? You Asgardians are too predictable!"

I looked around more and before I know it, something struck me on the head and I blacked out.

I woke up hanging sideways in chains and I realized my Clannfear was banished back to Oblivion and I have to summon him again. I look over and see this weird being with a strange crown. What the fuck am I seeing?

Surtur: I should have known they would send you here. You're a mere weakling.

"Tell that to my fucking face you coward!!"

Surtur: This one has a foul mouth. Hehe. Odin sure has not loved you has he?

I sneered at him for that remark. "Fuck off. I am one of Odin's chosen!!"

Surtur: The. Why is he having you do these pathetic trials?

He continued to taunt and mock me as I hung there. It wasn't making me doubtful, it was pissing me off. I felt my blood boil as I felt rage within. I began creating sparks of lightning in my hands and before I knew it, markings appeared on my skin. The chains melted off me as I leapt down grabbing my sword.

Surtur sent his minions after me as I fought my way out. I summoned my Daedric companion again as he comes out of the portal. I felt like I was in a murderous rage as I slain every creature in that cavern. When I reached the way in towards the outside, I flipped the bird at Surtur then fled out.

After escaping, I noticed a bunch of snakes emerge from the altar where I was supposed to go to. I walked up to it and placed my hands on the pedestal. All the snakes changed into the wardens of the realm. They muttered some kind of language I didn't understand, the serpents then slithered up my leg and sank its fangs into my neck.

I fell to my knees from the pain and before I knew it, I felt changes. My eyes went from brown to a golden color and some markings reappeared on my skin. I noticed it was in Norse and Daedric. What power was this?? I felt it coarse through me and I looked up as I saw Surtur's guards come toward me.

"You're screwed now assholes!!"

I noticed purple and black aura formed in my hands as I summoned serpents from thin air. Hearing these creatures scream brought a smile to my face. It was like something else awakened in me. A snicker slipped from my lips as I then used my nightmare spells against them.

I almost lost myself in this moment when Heimdall placed his hand on my shoulder.

Heimdall: Vaera, that's enough. The more you give in to the power of the serpents, you'll be consumed in darkness.

I snapped out of it and looked up at him standing behind me. He told me I passed the Trial of Serpents. I nodded as he took me and Clanny back to the Bifrost. This is far from over as there's more to come.
