(This is about the Fetterman Massacre, which happened on this day in 1866, in what is now the state of Wyoming. Sae is not in this particular story, but she just wanted to write something about one of the greatest military disasters ever suffered by the U.S. Army on the Great Plains!)

Sent from Fort Kearny to relieve a wagon train,

Which was under attack from Native Americans,

Captain Fetterman and his unsuspecting men,

Were instead led into a dangerous ambush.

Eighty one men doomed to certain death,

Faced against a thousand hostile warriors, 

Determined to make the soldiers pay dearly,

With their very lives as this conflict begins!

The commanding officer disobeying orders,

As Fetterman took the Lodge Trail Ridge,

Going northward in the wrong direction.

But it was now too late to change plans,

As the Lakota, Cheyenne, and Arapaho,

Suddenly attacked with murderous intent!

Catching Fetterman in a wide open area, 

Indians from both sides of the trail struck, 

Fighting the soldiers with bows and arrows,

Along with spears and war clubs as well.

Brutal hand to hand combat also took place,

With fatal results for all eighty one men!

The stripping and mutilation now began.

Naked soldiers gruesomely butchered!

Eyes were torn out and laid on rocks.

Noses and ears cut off with sadistic glee.

Teeth mercilessly chopped out from jaws.

While the dead men's brains were bashed,

Turned into mush then placed on more rocks!

Faces violently smashed into bloody pulps,

As hands and feet were savagely cut off.

Private parts chopped into many pieces,

Penises and testicles horrendously severed! 

Blood along with gore from dismembered soldiers,

Covered the ground as the massacre ended,

With Native Americans victoriously celebrating. 

Fetterman should have never disobeyed orders!

Utter destruction resulted from his arrogance!
