He's a proud Lakota chief who has now joined forces with certain elements of the United States government, because not all of them sought to destroy the Native American way of life. Indeed, the Great Sioux War of 1876 would soon turn against the military, because none other than Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer planned on betraying his own country, due to his increasing frustration with not only losing his former Civil War ranking of Major General, but also with how horrible the Indians were being treated by the white man in general. Treaty after treaty had been broken, causing Ichante to finally declare war after the government, gold miners, and buffalo hunters continued trespassing on Sioux territory, and he would not rest until either achieving complete victory or dying in defense of his people. Meanwhile, Custer's military career had gone nowhere after the Civil War ended, and since he would never be promoted to Major General again, and because of his superiors using their power to censor and court martial him on multiple occasions, Custer had at last grown sick and tired of constantly being abused, and would seek vengeance by indirectly allying himself with Chief Ichante's forces. Some of Custer's Native American scouts would give away vital information regarding General Crook's forces at Rosebud, thus making it much easier for Chief Inchante to inflict a truly devastating defeat on the United States Army. Crook's own Indian scouts had been lured away by Custer's, leaving the door wide open for an epic massacre which the world would never forget.
