Main ghost villain in the "Fatal Frame III" video game, who can also be a human as well. Reika's a lonely misunderstood onryo who doesn't really want to hurt or kill anyone, yet is driven by her curse to do so. Mostly she desires a sensual relationship with the right person who will also befriend and care for her as well, and after so many years of being alone will hopefully find it sooner, rather than later.
Rei Kurosawa, a freelance photographer, begins taking pictures of a supposedly haunted house. She captures an image of her deceased fiance, which startles her and begins a journey that eventually shatters her skeptical opinions of the supernatural. She begins to have recurring dreams and finds herself inside an old Japanese manor house during a heavy snowstorm. Seeing her fiance enter into the house, she follows him into the building, where her dreams become nightmares. Waking up gasping from a frightening encounter, in which a female ghost covered in tattoos touched her shoulder and moaned mournfully "Let me sleep forever,", Rei notices a mysterious and threatening tattoo slowly appearing on parts of her body. Rei explores more and more of the house, encountering greater resistance from the ghosts holding it. She discovers that the builders were all murdered and entombed by the Head Builder in columns spread throughout the house. After finally reaching the altar at the north end of the house, Rei encounters the Tattooed Priestess, a woman destined to be sacrificed after her body becomes covered with snake and holly tattoos, which are applied to assume the bad memories and pain from people who come to see her. After her body is entirely covered, she is taken to a cave under the manor where she is impaled by the Stake of Tattoos, which binds her in a dream-like state for eternity. However, Reika, the last priestess, fell in love with Kaname, a traveler who visited her village. Kaname, after finding that Reika had been taken to be bound in the cave, entered the cave to see her one last time and woke Reika from her sleep. Yashu Kuze, the family mistress, discovering Kaname in the cave, struck the back of his head, killing him instantly. He fell next to Reika, his eyes open, staring and unseeing into hers. Heartbroken, Reika allowed her tattoos to enter her eyes, turning them jet black and releasing the pain pent up inside her body and the rest of the cave. The spirits slaughtered the entire household, who now wander the manor looking for a way out.
"That is my story. It is only a matter of time before Rei joins her fiance in death. The tattoo now covers almost her entire body. Soon her soul shall be mine. Part of me regrets having to do this, because she and I both shared unfortunate fates and can relate to one another. But regardless of my feelings, she and everyone else must be made to share my pain and endure the suffering that these tortured eyes have seen."
Version Two:
This ruthless ghost from the "Fatal Frame III" video game has nothing but hatred and pure loathing in her black heart for Kayako Saeki, yet despite multiple attempts to destroy the other female and end the Grudge Curse forever, things have not quite gone according to Reika's devious plans thus far. However, with her best friend and sister in blood Mary Worth joining in this crusade to exterminate Kayako once and for all, no one is certain what might happen next between these three strong but also very determined women!
