Vern stepped from the creaking ship, the heavy rain giving him a good excuse to obscure his face behind the heavy hood of his jacket. The House of Solomon had been a place he had never visited. Had no connection to. It was what made it the perfect place for him to escape his past and try to begin again. To hide from his failures and far more terrifying, his success.
With a weary hand he wiped away the rain from his bearded face wishing his past could be wiped away so easily. But it was time to try to do just that. He made his way from the docks carrying his bag only and the small fortune in rare gems he had saved as he set to build a new life. One that would begin with a bath, a shave and some dry clothes.
