Anicius Constantius, shortened name as Constantine, is a Roman centurion during the reign of Marcus Aurelius . Born in an influential pleb family, he was forced to join the legions in order to find a place in society. Also, his family had once been friendly to Cicero and advocated for the hellenization of Rome.
Enter Constantius. He was born during the reign of Antonius Pius, and educated under Apuleius only to be sent into the army when time was right. He used his hellenic education to rise the ranks, and speak with his superiors as well as reading Greek war and political books. Due to this, Anicius Constantius became proconsul of Macedonia and Achaea at the same time.
During the wars against the Persians, Constantius was forced to be a mobile reserve and fought valiantly even as the majority of his comrades died. During this time, his unit made a name for itself by its strict adherence to the methods of warfare discovered by the Greeks which were used to greater success by the Romans.
After the war, the plague hit and Constantine worked with Galens to free the Greeks from the Antonine Plague. This very plague killed Verus, and gave full control of the empire to Marcus Aurelius
During this time, the barbarians exploited a weakened empire that not only barely recovered from the war with Persia, but recovered from the Antonine Plague that killed many. Anicius Constantius becomes a veteran of that war ( this is where the story begins where I am writing in RP)
