Artist named Charles Delaware Tate, sketched a woman he dreamt about, a woman he believes to be his ideal mate. Obsessed by her beauty, he paints a portrait of her in his studio and where the evil Count Petofi sees it and decides to play a cruel trick on Charles and asks Charles to meet him at the Collinsport Inn that evening saying, it will be worth his time.
As Charles waits in the lodge at Collinport Inn with Petofi, he feels Petofi is up to no good until, he sees the face of the woman in his dream walking down the steps of the Inn wearing the same dress and brooch he added to the portrait that morning.
Petofi laughs and walks away as Charles stood there in shock then returns to his studio where Petofi awaits his arrival telling him he had no idea he could create life with the power of magic he granted him.
Petofi′s evil mind thinks of ways he can use this magic in his favor then tells Charles the woman he created will never love him.
The next morning, Charles goes on with his day knowing Petofi was right and tries to forget his ideal woman and goes to Collinwood to deliver a painting Carolyn purchased.
As he waits in the drawing room, the woman′s voice is heard entering the front door then she enters the drawing room. She quickly says hello and introduces herself to Charles as Amanda Harris.
Charles asks Amanda when she was born. Amanda tells Charles she doesn′t remember and only recalls the last two years. Charles than asked what is the first date she does remember. Amanda feeling she must tell Charles utters the date, March 11, 1895.
Charles tells Amanda they will meet again then leaves Collinwood and goes back to his studio to search for the very first sketch of Amanda. When Charles sees the date on the sketch he believes Petofi was telling him the truth, that he in fact did create Amanda Harris by sketching her on March 11, 1895.
