Research to sort though

(Really just me combining different sources in one place for easy access.)

Dionysus, the god of wine, represented the primitive nature of humans, which his followers believed was accessible through wine's ability to lower inhibitions. He was also believed to have power over death, as a result of being torn to pieces by titans and then resurrected by his father, Zeus. Like the other mysteries, a great deal about his worship remains unknown, but some aspects were practiced publicly—frenzied, drunken orgies, the playing of instruments called bullroarers, and the sacrifice of animals using a double-headed axe followed by the drinking of their blood mixed with wine. In art, Dionysus is often depicted in a procession of satyrs and women wearing animal skins, with ivy wrapped around their brows and holding staffs with pinecones on top.

The Dionysian mysteries eventually evolved into the Orphic mysteries, which were established by about the 5th century BCE. These cults dealt with the worship of Orpheus, a legendary musician who was said to have established the Dionysian mysteries. The Orphics, as they are called, lived an ascetic lifestyle, leaving behind the decadent practices of their predecessors. They believed that humans were divine, created from the ashes of the titans who murdered Dionysus. Unfortunately, they also inherited the titan’s sins, for which they had to atone. Some of their rituals included the actual or symbolic dismembering of a person representing Dionysus, who was then understood to be reborn.

Quick fact, disclaimers, and rules

1. I am obviously not MJK, and don't claim to be.  I chose this face because to me he fits the part.

-I find his features fitting
-His wigs, costumes and persona fit well with the character descriptions.
-He's a Vintner

I have been using the name "Drunken god" since the early 2000's (Maybe 2002?) before this character was even made.  This character was made after I watched "Blood into wine" and decided that MJK was the proper face.

2. I may have a modern face, but I am willing to play storylines in any era. I look at it as chapters in his life.

3. I have a bit of his  background written up, but not all.  I play the myth where his mother is Semele.  He only brought his mother back from the underworld, and Ariadne was turned to stone. He was raised by Hermes and Pan, hiding as a girl when he was younger. Hera is his nemesis.

4. He is the only one who has taken a soul from the underworld successfully .

5. He does not join in on the rest of the family's incestuous ways.  (Had issues with this back on myspace, and will NOT tolerate it again!)

6. Once he settles down, he will remain faithful to one. He will still hold his parties, but not join in on the orgies.  He has chosen his one, and made her his own. He does not care about the disapproval of others, or judgement on how he made this happen.  She is his, and he is not letting go. Deal with it and move the fuck on.
He chose her because:
-He was drawn to her sadness, and thought her to be a beautiful tragedy.
-They both lost their first spouses
-They both had to hide in their youth
-She is a Shaman
-She reminded him of his first wife
- Many more reasons (Things he has grown to know about her by actually spending time with her and paying attention)

7. He was responsible for giving King Midas his golden touch.

8. He created dolphins out of his would be kidnappers.
