Lykaios; Beast Of The Wilds
Revenge. It is the most petty of all the traits that humanity is cursed to bear. It is this very trait that brought forth Lykaios to this world. For when humanity was brought forth into this world, there were no laws. No kindness. Only the strongest survived and reigned supreme. This allowed settlements to be formed as time went on by. It was in one of these settlements that everything had begun. For it was within one of these settlements that everything had begun.
A single woman had been betrayed and shunned by the others. The humiliation she suffered was overwhelming. To the point that the desires for revenge settled deep within her heart. She was foolish and oblivious. She pleaded to what or whoever would listen to her. It was there that Hircine heard these pleas of hers and granted her, her wish. He took the greatest of his Lycanthropes from his realm and allowed him to be reborn into the world.
She knew her pleas were answered the day she discovered that she was pregnant. While she knew her pleas had been answered. She couldn't be any happier that she was to become a mother. Even to a beast like Lykaios. Of course, she had no idea what she was bringing forth into this world.
The day that Lykaios was finally brought into this world was a joyous day for the woman that had birthed him. However, her revenge was going to have to wait. Years went on by and she raised Lykaios, a beast without the power to shift into a human form. She knew that the life he was to live, was going to be far different than any other child born into this world. Regardless, she loved her son. However, fate refused to allow the two of them to live in peace. For one day the village had learned about Lykaios and that it was the one they shunned that gave birth to him. Just moments before they came for them, she told Lykaios everything. What happened, the plea she made to whoever would listen.
It enraged Lykaios to the point that when they came. Her revenge was granted. However, it was in that same day that both Lykaios and his mother had just vanished without a single trace. Some believed the villagers killed them both. Others believed that Hiricine took them away. The truth is that they two of them ran away and it wasn't goign to be until years later when Lykaios was to make his return. Some time after discovering the wilds with his mother.
The Wilds
The wilds is a large region in the world that includes forested regions, large plentiful fields and even a mountain range at the northern border of this region. This is the area that Lykaios resides at, and guards. A region that he found long ago and that he swore to protect the peace and serenity. However, it is also surrounded by settlements and to get to one settlement or the other. One must pass on through. Which by a glance would be no issue if you were well geared and with enough people to provide protection. However, the merchants that pass through know of Lykaios and know what must be done to pass through safely. A toll must be paid to have safe passage through the wilds. Those that live in the wilds thank Lykaios for making the wilds safe. However, over the years. His presence there, his supernatural presence has allowed the wildlife to flourish without concern of it's own destruction. The wilds may be beautiful, but they are also quite dangerous. Plenty of plant-life that would love to make quick work of the unwary. From plants that will literally feast upon those that wonder into them. To plants that use women to reproduce, to plants that can produce a sweet aphrodisiac dust from.
