Looking over her shoulder as she rode like the wind, she smiled as she realized no one could keep up with her. She had a habit of escaping the guards who were meant to watch over her but she was too clever for them. She went on paths even they were afraid to take and when she got to where she wanted to go, she slowed down. Being five years old and a master rider was unheard of but there were other things about her that made her unique. Other than her golden hair, she was of fair skin with a few freckles on her nose. She was a lovely child and everyone began to wonder why she was left in the middle of nowhere without any protection. If she hadn't been found by a Lord, she would probably be dead but even knew that as she grew, she would need constant supervision.
Once she was settled with the spot she slid from the horse and walked to the edge of the water where she watched the fish. This was her little escape from everything and everyone and as she became lost in her little world, she had no idea someone was watching her. Everything was nice and quiet until a quick swish got her attention followed by the painful cry of her horse. She jumped up from where she was and looked around her. Blood sprayed on as she ran to her horse and when he fell she cried out in agony. As she cried she put her hands on his head and leaned close, not caring how much blood she was getting on her and suddenly he calmed and looked at her. She knew he was going to die, because of how much blood he lost, and as she pulled out the arrow she held it close to her as he took his last breath.
Eyes were on her as she moved and when she knew her beloved horse was dead she stood up and looked around, holding the arrow in her hand. "You missed!" She said as she cried out. Her eyes were filled with tears and as she looked around her, more arrows began to fly from different directions. She wasn't hit by any of them and she wasn't sure if they were even trying to hit her, but as she stepped back she felt the grip of someone and looked back to see it was one of her guards. "Thea!" He said and held her close as more arrows began to darken the sky. He got away with her and when they returned to the estate she was handed over to get cleaned up.
What happened to her was traumatizing and she never left the grounds alone again. From time to time she would be out in the gardens sitting in the flowers and enjoying the sun but after that day in the woods, her words were few.
